For the past few months, it is getting increasingly popular (so much so that it’s getting on my nerves) … this excessively talked about phenomenon is known as “Social Media Marketing”. When the social networking websites initially came out, they were certainly not as promising, nobody thought they’d took over the internet by this ferocity … but My God, hasn’t the growth been Phenomenal? For instance, a report by Compete informed that the twitter has gone through a whopping 750% growth in the past year. Yes … Seven Hundred and Fifty Goddamn Percent growth in 365 days. Now, that’s what we call enormous growth. And when something is getting so popular and widely accepted, how can a marketing personal ignore that?
Remember, good marketers are those who follow the market and their consumers. Therefore, even though I don’t like the social networking website as an individual (the idea of limiting your friends and family members to your monitor screen is something I can’t digest), as a marketer I m bound to love it.
What’s so special?
The only thing that I found to be out of the ordinary in Social media or Social networking websites is the popularity and tremendous growth. Point is, as a marketing or SEO professional, you don’t necessarily need to agree or adapt all the methods and channels you are going to use, main thing is to use whatever and wherever it works (as long as it doesn’t violate the basic set of ethics). Therefore, you’re ought to use the ever growing scope of social media or social networking websites, regardless of your personal likes and dislikes.
Twitter:
Ah, the latest craze … though I can’t corroborate but apparently President Obama tweets (not in the literally sense for God sake, I mean he uses twitter and even follows some 750,000 twitterers), Tom Cruise tweets, Angelina Jolie tweets, David Beckham tweets, Shahrukh Khan tweets, and if that was not enough to make you realize the magnitude, here’s the ultimate … I tweet (taraaan … *takes a bow*).
Before this post turns into a marketing copy for Twitter, let me make the point … The purpose of dragging all these biggies (errrr … ok you can exclude me if you want :@) into this post is to depict that … everybody seems to be using twitter, and that … my friends! makes it an absolutely free medium to reach your customers … directly … one on one … get to know their demands, be there to help them and what not. The possibilities are endless, and this post is too short to jot down all of them.

Why just twitter? I think facebook, linkedIn, etc are all effective in their own way … ?
Your work is really praiseworthy.. but i must say that the new post is low informative.. any how it’s true that twitter and the other social marketing sites have significant role
I think we are all at some point in time forced to do things we don’t really want to do in order to put food on the table. In this economic time I think it is important for all marketers to jump on the “fads” even if we are not sure if it is a fad or not in order to keep things moving forward.
